Check Out My Publisher Site - Enter to Name a Character!

http://seasonsofastory.blogspot.com/

It's finally here! My "publisher" has its own site now, to make navigating my books and author info that much easier. :)

You can check out the story behind the site at Seasons of Humility today. But since this is my author blog, I thought I'd do something special here to celebrate the occasion...

Hop on over to take a look at the Seasons of a Story Publishing site, then hop on back and share your thoughts. What do you like best about the design? Do you think it fits well with my author brand (my "theme," if you will)? Do you like the idea of joining a street team? Planning on participating in the cover reveal?

Leave a comment here on this post regarding your thoughts on the new site, and you'll be entered for a chance to pick one of my character's names for How a Star Falls (one of my upcoming projects)! There's no guarantee as to which character it will be (hero, heroine, secondary character, family member, pet, etc.) - this story is still in the brainstorming stage. :) But I'll plan on using the name somehow, LOL.

Some semi-fine print: This "giveaway" is open internationally. A winner will be chosen randomly via Random.org and will most likely be announced here sometime next week. By leaving a comment, you're giving me permission to use the name of your choice for one of my characters (of my choosing).

Please do share in your comment the name (male or female) you'd like me to use if you win! We can also chat about naming characters, and what makes for a great character name. :)

And I'm thrilled you like the title! You can thank Lena for helping me to go a different direction with the title than I originally planned... Trust me, you all should be grateful it got changed, haha. ;) Maybe I should write up a post about it sometime.

Very cool name choice! I confess that picking unique names is not my forte. So, really, this contest is super helpful. ;) How do you go about coming up with names for your writing?

    1. So pleased you think so, Laura! I thought Debz did an awesome job with the design. :)

And oooh, what a unique and pretty name! The "Behind the Name" site says that it's a Hebrew name meaning "favorable" - very cool. :)

  5. Picking names for characters can be rather frustrating a lot of the time. What I like to do is make a name and then fit a character to that name.

The name I submit is Theseus Aster Eisenhauer.

    1. Hey, Matt! So true... Picking names can be a difficult process. That's cool that you create a personality by picking the name first. :) And that's quite a unique one for the contest! Nice. The names I pick tend to be rather simple...but with historicals, you have to take into account the time frame. Not so much with contemporaries - yay!

    2. Yep, picking names that fit with the theme helps immensely. With the tales I hope the spin are sci-fi and fantasy, picking names should be a tad more flexible. Also I bought a baby name book just for purpose of picking names. Another way that I picked names is that I look around my surroundings and justuse that. How I came up with the name Aster was looking around my living room and I saw a model train set called the Rail Master and I just took off the M from master got Aster.

I would like to subtract the name Theseus of the name I gave for the contest making it just Aster Eisenhauer.

    3. Yes, that's definitely the fun thing about the fantasy genre! The sky's the limit when it comes to world-building and character-naming. :) Baby-name books and websites are very helpful! I especially love learning the meaning or origin behind a name.

That's a creative way to pick names - and convenient! Very cool. And LOL, yes, you can submit a revised name. ;) It's all good!

  6. Hey, Hey!! LOVE the site! From the colors, to the cursive writing, and the banners--oh, the banners--all lovely! A name? Goodness! Confession?? That is the single most difficult task in writing for me. Don't know why. (Well done, Matt, in making up names and fitting your characters into them. Don't know if I can manage that.) So, a name? ... Loraine Prudence! Phew!!

    1. Hey, Miranda! Thank you so much for all the encouragement - I'm so happy you like the site! :D

I totally hear you about having a hard time with character names... It's so hard to find good ones, especially ones that aren't too common or used in a prominent way in another book! I confess right along with you that it's not my strongest skill. ;) That's a lovely name that you picked for this little contest! If your name isn't drawn, that would be a great one to keep on file for future projects. :)
